After School English for Returnees, Dual Nationals, and Bilingual Students
GRADS & TEENS
Fluent and Near-Fluent English speakers thrive in our small-group, project-based literacy and conversation classes

Does your English-speaking child need a place to converse and grow?
At Discovery International School in Nagakute, our afternoon and evening programs are designed exclusively for fluent English-speaking elementary and junior high school students. Perfect for returnees, international kindergarten graduates, and dual-national children, our project-based approach fosters advanced literacy and authentic language use.
Each class combines:
-
Personalized English literacy instruction (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
-
Small-group grammar and vocabulary development
-
STEAM-style research projects where students ask real questions, research answers, and showcase what they’ve learned.
Here are a few sample projects from our GRADS & TEENS learners:
-
How are cars made?
-
Why are people born?
-
Why does the Earth spin?
-
How do you make a video?
Students practice academic English in context, while gaining skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression.
Entry Requirement:
These advanced programs are tailored for fluent and near-fluent English speakers. To ensure the best possible learning experience for all students, a language screening test is required prior to enrollment.
Every learner is different — that’s why our literacy curriculum is personalized.
We focus on all four key areas:
-
Comprehension
-
Accuracy
-
Fluency
-
Vocabulary
In addition to one-on-one support, we work in small groups to build confidence in grammar, sentence structure, and written expression — helping children become not just fluent, but precise and effective English communicators.

Stay connected to what your child is doing in class!
-
After every session, teachers post photos and videos through our secure parent app.
-
We offer daily face-to-face check-ins and optional parent-teacher conferences to discuss English growth.
-
After completing a research project, children choose how to present their learning — from books and videos to puppet shows, posters, and more!
